Day 17 – Memphis – Rock ’n’ Roll, Blues and Soul

Day 17 (September 4 – 5, 2015)

We had a clear focus what to see in Memphis:

  1. Graceland
  2. Sun Studios
  3. Beale Street
  4. Mississippi River

All those we tasted already 25 years ago but now definitely wanted to see again.

We were happy to notice that home of Elvis is still basically the same as origin. They have added some new museums (especially automobile museum was very interesting) and number of gift shops are now in the each section that was possible to built there. Anyway, generally it’s the same as we saw previously. It was also nice to see that there is still same dedicated and respectful atmosphere to Elvis.

Mississippi river we reviewed by ”sightseeing run” along the park trails. Unfortunately we missed sunset (because of quick but not quick enough visit at legendary Sun Studios).

Beale street gave us good, wide performances of live rock ’n’ roll, blues and soul music. A bevy of policemen were as warranty that tourists can have authentic but safe experience there.

A little exotic experience we had there when one waitress asked to present I.D. upon we ordered beers for our dry throats.
