Days 26 – 27 (September 12 – 13, 2015)
After a great, late brunch in Vegas we turned straight to hot desert. Because we slept so late we didn’t have time enough to stop at Hoover Dam. Our target was clear – The Maverick Live Country Club in Tucson.
It was so hot this time that we didn’t lay roof down. Over 40 degr. C wind to your face doesn’t feel so fresh anymore! Yes sir, we received new Camaro in Vegas!!! No Elvis radio available anymore as we had in Dodge Charger during those three days, but something more again!
There is very nice cactus ”forest” near Tucson. I shot almost 100 photos there. I’m not sure but probably there are not any similar areas in US.
The Band at Maverick Club (I don’t remember name of the group anymore) wasn’t…how could I say it…maybe they are great artists but…I would say…I have heard better ones. Anyhow, The Maverick has an atmosphere it’s really authentic. This review I found from Internet and I cannot add any words more: ”From the moment I stepped through the doors of this lively bar, I felt like I had stepped into the scene of a 1980’s cowboy movie”.
Whatever, we enjoyed a lot to overlook those dancers on the floor – genuine (senior age) cowboys dancing with genuine cowgirls (all ages). All younger guys (cowboys + others) did the same as we (foreigners) did – braced against the wall, left hand in the pocket trying to find his keys or coins and right hand kept a bottle of beer. Anyhow, nice experience to see something like this!
Because 1980’s mobile phones were just coming (and they were too big ones to put it to your pocket), I didn’t want to brake that authentic feeling there to make a photos with my iPhone. So, no photos from the Maverick club, sorry.
Next day desert views from Tucson to San Diego
